Enemies will die realistically and damage between yourself and the AI is balanced(thank ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ god). But I found a much more comfortable, yet satisfyingly difficult mode in Rookie mode. I played on Rookie mode(yes, I know ♥♥♥♥♥ me) but the second I entered on Misery mode and dumped 50 bullets into a Snork and it didn't die, yeah, I knew that wasn't for me. You're going to laugh your ass off, other times you're going to want to punch your computer screen. You're going to die hilariously, frustratingly, miserably, embarassingly, stupidly, cheesily, and in any way you can think of.
Aside from some of it's more frustragingly nagging stupid issues, you're going to have a blast playing Misery. There are just some nagging things that they shouldn't have bothered with and can be fixed with a simple patch.įun. Some normally docile mutants(flesh mainly) are unorthodoxly hostile for no reason. They also decided to change some artifact locations, for whatever purpose. This is solved by just simply putting a hunger bar in the inventory panel. You have no idea how much you need to consume which can make you waste some good food and eat more than you need too. There's also Misery's revamped hunger system that is indicated by your large intestine on the right side of the screen. They aren't hostile to anyone but you, it's a strange and pointless script. There are also some really odd scripts like some "bandits" that spawn at the little encampment north of Schvenko by the bridge. There are also some strange oddities changed from the original game, like why the hell do bandits have Stalker skins on and vice versa? That adds nothing to the immersion and only takes away from the game. Yes, this literally happened and I laughed my ass off. For example, I was 10 meters away from Skadovsk and was gangbanged by 3 bloodsuckers in the middle of the day. Something new happens every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ second. One of the best, but also worst, things about Misery is it's complete randomness. Missing scripts, odd components, and steps backward from the original. Even my GTX 1070 struggles at higher graphics settings, that's scary bad. Coupled with the game's already nagging optimization issues and frequent frame freezes, low-tier PC's need to stay clear and mid-tier PC's need to be ready for a struggle. I find my frames drop from 80 in midday and night to about 30-40 during the early morning fog. Fog, while a nice touch, takes a gigantic ♥♥♥♥ on your PC.

If your PC is decent and you see fog outside, turn around, get your ass back in Skadovsk and sleep till noon. You're going to stutter at 15 fps the whole damn way.

If you have a relatively bad PC, don't even download Misery. I get it, it's for difficulty but it really breaks the immersion when you suddenly are getting pelted with bullets from hundreds of yards away when you can't even see the grass 3 feet in front of you. It essentially makes the Recon class, my unfortunate favorite, the least useful to play. It's a little better at night time, but it's still broken. They can spot you a football field away in suffocating fog. I'm going to tell you right now, if you want to be sneaky sneaky, turn away and wait. So for starters, let's go ahead and get the bad ♥♥♥♥ out of the way. So far I've tried an array of different ones both with Misery and just the original game, but this discussion will be simply about whether Misery 2.2 is worth. So like some that come on this board, they're going to ask for help on which mods are the best for Call of Pripyat.
